The VSEA Awards/Scholarships Committee is currently soliciting applications from students seeking financial assistance in the pursuit of post-secondary educational goals.
The Committee will announce the recipients of the scholarships in June.
The VSEA Elections, Rules, and Nominating Committee has certified that the VSEA members of the Judiciary Bargaining Unit have ratified their contract settlement agreement on a new, two-year contract that will become effective on July 1, 2024.
The Judiciary Unit contact becomes the sixth collective bargaining agreement negotiated by the VSEA since last fall. Members in the Non-Management, Corrections, Supervisory, and Defender General units approved their respective contract settlements in 2024 and the State’s Attorneys’ Offices Unit membership will soon be voting on ratification of their negotiated tentative agreement.
VSEA thanks the Judiciary Unit bargaining team for their work to reach a contract settlement that has the approval of its members.
Last week, your union, VSEA, won a major fight to advance our Anti-Privatization Bill, S. 96. The bill passed out of the Senate Government Operations Committee after strong testimony from VSEA members Leona Watt and Jon Kennedy.
We’ve seen more and more State work outsourced to private contractors. S. 96 would close the loophole that could put YOUR JOB at risk of being taken over by poorly paid private workers, and protects your pay and benefits. Now the bill heads to the Appropriations Committee and from there to the Senate Floor. Soon, your VSEA staff may be reaching out to ask you to call your senator and tell them to vote to pass the bill.
