VSEA Retirees Chapter President and Vermont Rep. Bob Hooper introduced a resolution that was read this week in House chambers, honoring longtime VSEA member, now retiree, Vaughn Altemus.

“VSEA Day at Fenway” has been scheduled and the bus will be headed to Fenway Park on Saturday afternoon, June 8, to see the Red Sox battle the Tampa Bay Rays, starting at 1:00 p.m. The cost is $111 per person, which includes a bus ride to and from the park, as well as a ticket to the game.

In response to a reduction in demand for Reach Up, one of Vermont’s key social services for low-income families, legislators are proposing to cut 17 of the program’s state-funded caseworkers in the next fiscal year.
The budget passed by the Senate this week eliminates 12 caseworker positions in the Department for Children and Families, and five at the state’s parent child centers — a network of nonprofits that provide services to families with young children.
