Two Years After Executive Branch (EB) Unit members got a bill passed to provide for binding arbitration of contract disputes for EB members, the State Colleges, and Municipal Public Safety, Governor Scott signed legislation yesterday granting binding arbitration to VSEA Judiciary Unit members.
The legislation ensures that the Judiciary Unit members’ contract will now be decided by a truly neutral professional, rather than by a Board appointed by the governor.
“This is a great win for VSEA early in the session,” says VSEA Communications Director Doug Gibson. “It levels the playing field for VSEA’s Judiciary workers, who have been speaking out loudly against Judiciary management being able to manipulate the bargaining process by dragging negotiations out to last best offer.”
The VSEA Awards/Scholarships Committee is currently soliciting applications from students seeking financial assistance in the pursuit of post-secondary educational goals.
The Committee will announce the recipients of the scholarships at the June Council Meeting.
Deadline: 4:30 p.m. on May 13, 2022
