They’re Back… Well-Funded, Corporate Group Funding Mass Anti-Union Mailing

VSEA is aware that the Freedom Foundation–a well-funded, corporate, anti-union group from outside Vermont–is once again sending emails and letters to VSEA members to promote the group’s anti-union, anti-worker agenda. Each time this group tries to peddle its propaganda here in Vermont, VSEA reminds members that there are so many good reasons for VSEA members to ignore this group’s email and letter.

Here are some resources for members to revisit:

Happy Thanksgiving VSEA!

VSEA President Aimee Towne shared the following Thanksgiving message with members and retirees this morning:

On behalf of the VSEA Board of Trustees, I want to wish everyone a happy, healthy, and safe Thanksgiving holiday. We have a lot to be thankful for this year, beginning with the fact that labor unions like ours have survived years of demonization and are now finally becoming more and more popular with younger Americans, and, just as important, young Vermonters. Because of your activism and support for each other, VSEA continues to raise the bar for state employees, both active and retired, while also protecting the wage, benefit, and working condition improvements we and those before us have won at the bargaining table. For this, the Board and I are thankful.

Here are some other VSEA achievements we can all be thankful for this year.

1st Annual Will Wells Memorial Food Drive Challenge

VSEA is pleased to invite VSEA Chapters statewide to participate in the first-ever Will Wells Memorial Food Drive Challenge!

As in years, past VSEA is again challenging every VSEA Chapter and its members to raise as much money as possible between now and December 31 to provide meals to a “virtual food drive” for the Vermont Foodbank. Let’s see which VSEA Chapter can raise the most money for this very worthwhile cause that benefits so many Vermont families during especially difficult times. Again, the VSEA Board of Trustees voted to start each Chapter off with a $200 donation.

The total amount of money VSEA donated to the Foodbank in 2021 was $7,000, and VSEA’s Chittenden Chapter raised the most for the second year in a row!

VSEA stopped by the AOT garage in Middlesex this morning to meet with members and provide an update on issues important to the group. Most of the members had just come back from early morning plowing and were cleaning off their plows.

VSEA thanks the Middlesex AOT members and all AOT members statewide for the excellent job you do year in and year out keeping Vermont’s highways and byways cleared, often in some less-than-ideal weather conditions.
