Last week, your union, VSEA, won a major fight to advance our Anti-Privatization Bill, S. 96. The bill passed out of the Senate Government Operations Committee after strong testimony from VSEA members Leona Watt and Jon Kennedy.
We’ve seen more and more State work outsourced to private contractors. S. 96 would close the loophole that could put YOUR JOB at risk of being taken over by poorly paid private workers, and protects your pay and benefits. Now the bill heads to the Appropriations Committee and from there to the Senate Floor. Soon, your VSEA staff may be reaching out to ask you to call your senator and tell them to vote to pass the bill.
In advance of Public Service Recognition Week 2024 (May 5 – May 12), VSEA’s Communications Department is inviting members to submit the names of colleagues who are deserving of special recognition for always going above and beyond to provide quality service to the Vermonters they serve. We’ll be choosing some of your nominations to feature during PSRW 2024.
Let the Communications Department know who you want to nominate for special recognition and tell us a little bit about why you are submitting their name for consideration.
Thanks in advance for your nominations. The nominating period will conclude at the end of March 2024.
The VSEA State’s Attorneys’ Offices Unit Bargaining Team has reached a tentative agreement with the State of Vermont Department of State’s Attorneys and Sheriffs on a successor two-year contract that would become effective on July 1, 2024. The Bargaining Team will be scheduling informational meetings to review the settlement and answer members’ questions.
All agreements reached during contract negotiations are tentative pending approval by the unit membership through ratification voting. The dates for voting on the new contract have not been set.
The VSEA Awards/Scholarships Committee is currently soliciting applications from students seeking financial assistance in the pursuit of post-secondary educational goals.
The Committee will announce the recipients of the scholarships in June.
