VSEA’s legislative team leaders and other union staff visited the VVH on January 3 for a tour and a chance to conduct face-to-face meetings throughout the day with key VVH and public officials, such as Board of Trustees President Joseph Krawczyk and Senator Dick Sears (D-Bennington).
"Home Administrator Melissa Jackson and Board of Trustees President Joseph L. Krawczyk Jr. said they have already begun taking action to cut costs, but there is little discretionary spending that can be cut. They said officials are looking for all ways to cut costs."
VSEA issues press release, announcing 2013 Legislative team.
VTDigger Story
"Pension fund decisions are typically jointly reached by a board split equally between management and workers. But, the legal “partnership” is a myth: the truth is that management usually holds the upper hand in dictating investment direction."
Just a week ago, VVH administrators told the VVH Board of Trustees that things were going well and the Home had cleared a recent inspection.
“We pulled off a miracle (in September) and we are not going to revisit that time period again," said the VVH ‘s top administrator.
Could this new letter/warning be the impetus to hire adequate staff to ensure no more Septembers?
