On Friday, August 9, the VSEA Retired Members’ Chapter hosted its Annual Meeting at the Elks Club in Montpelier. The group elected a new slate of officers that includes:
President – Joan Maclay Vice President – Ruth Leithead
Treasurer – Susan Martin Clerk – Luci Stephens
The Chapter also heard from Sen. Bernie Sanders, Treasurer Beth Pearce and Author Wendell Potter.
On August 8, renowned health care industry whistleblower Wendell Potter gave a labor-sponsored talk in Burlington on what kind of industry blowback Vermonters can expect in the coming months and years from the insurance industry as our state moves forward towards establishing a health care delivery system of affordable, quality health care for all.
"Speaking at a town hall meeting at Bennington College, Shumlin said unequivocally that his administration remains committed to the facility. Privatizing the home is not needed, he said."
At an August 5 Town Hall Meeting with the Governor in Bennington, the American Legion’s John Minor rose to ask the Governor about the future of the beleaguered Vermont Veterans’ Home. Hear the Governor’s full answer and note that he is making his comments with full knowledge of what is contained in a consultant’s report on the Home, which is due to be officially released on August 8.
