State and VSEA Battle Over Contract

In a VPR story about the State’s desire to implement a new prescription drug program for VSEA retirees (mind you, a subject of bargaining), Secretary of the Administration Jeb Spaulding says "his negotiating team worked hard" to convince VSEA negotiators to accept the switch. However, VSEA negotiators say Spaulding is simply not being truthful. The idea was brought up by Spaulding’s team early in negotiations, but it was dropped pretty quickly. No hard sell whatsoever. The hard sell, came in fact, AFTER a tentative agreement had been reached by both parties. Far too late to be negotiated. Spread the truth VSEA!

“Bang For The Buck” – Dave Bellini’s Letter To The Editor From Today’s Times Argus

VSEA Corrections Unit Chair and Board of Trustees’ member Dave Bellini penned this letter to the editor that appeared in today’s Times Argus:

"When I recently asked the Governor about the use of temporary correctional officers, he told me we get more ‘bang for the buck’ using temporary help. What he means is: it’s cheaper to hire people and not provide any benefits like sick days or health insurance."
