VSEA Bargaining Team’s Foresight Leads To Wage Increase For VSEA-Represented Vermont State Police Lieutenants

VSEA Labor Relations Director Gary Hoadley shared this message this afternoon with VSP Lts. and now he’s sharing it with the VSEA membership:

"Because of a contract provision negotiated by VSEA Bargaining Teams, Vermont State Police Lieutenants will receive a higher annual wage increase than the .6% imposed by the Last-Best-Offer (LBO) decision of the Vermont Labor Relations Board.

Vermont Trooper Makes History- And It Was His Labor Contract That Allowed Him To Run For Public Office, Win & Now Serve

On Tuesday night, Vermont State Trooper Nader Hashim (D) became the first active trooper to be elected to the Vermont Legislature. The Brattleboro Reformer reports that Hashim has accepted a voluntary reassignment to the Royalton barracks to avoid any potential conflicts of interest with his constituents.

"We are pleased that one of our members has been elected to serve in the Vermont Legislature, as is his right to do so," says VTA Spokesperson Adam Silverman. "He has made arrangements to serve on unpaid legislative leave once the 2019 session begins until it has closed, which is permitted under the collective bargaining agreement.

VSEA Closely Monitoring Any & All Woodside Developments In Wake Of Commissioner’s Announcement On Federal Funding Loss

VSEA leaders, staff and, most important, frontline Woodside workers, have been attending meetings with AHS officials about the facility’s future, but there are still a lot of unanswered questions right now. Needless to say, all involved on VSEA’s behalf will be closely monitoring the debate and planning and then weighing in publicly on any and all developments.  

VSEA is stressing how important it is to not turn the rehabilitation and care of Vermont’s most troubled youth over to a private firm only interested in profits and how to increase shareholder earnings.
