VSEA has a seven-woman delegation at this week’s 2016 NE Summer School for Women in Unions and Worker Organizations, which began on July 30 and ends August 3. It’s being held at the Labor Education Center on the Rutgers campus in New Brunswick, New Jersey. This year’s theme is “The Struggle is Real” (don’t VSEA members know it).

VSEA women have been attending the Summer Schools for years now, and this year’s delegation features [pictured here]: Melissa Walsh (VVH), Cassidy Renfrew (DOC), Dawn Carillo (DII), Barbara King (VVH), Victoria Thorpe (Judiciary) and Sarah Draper (DCF). Not pictured is Rebecca Trower (Tax Dept.)

Thanks for representing and for sharing Vermont state employee issues and concerns with a national audience! Hopefully, new ideas will be discussed to combat similar threats to public employees nationwide, like constant budget deficits, increased use of temps, a rise in threats to employees’ safety and security while at work and others.
