State Again Cancels Bennington Building Grand Opening. VSEA Going Ahead With Celebration BBQ For Employees.

In an e-mail this morning to all Bennington employees, VSEA President John Reese wrote, "This most recent cancellation marks the fourth time the State has delayed this ceremony, and VSEA thinks enough is enough, therefore we are going ahead with our plans to hold a barbeque luncheon on May 9 for all Bennington employees."

VSEA visited the new building yesterday and it is beautiful. Employees are actually already in their new digs. They moved in on April 23, or the date of the State’s original grand opening ceremony.

 Good Morning:

Late yesterday, VSEA received word from the State that the May 9 ribbon-cutting, grand opening of the Bennington State Office Building is being cancelled yet again. VSEA received no official reason for the change.

This most recent cancellation marks the fourth time the State has delayed this ceremony, and VSEA thinks enough is enough, therefore we are going ahead with our plans to hold a barbeque luncheon on May 9 for all Bennington employees.

VSEA hopes as many Bennington employees (even those who work elsewhere in the Bennington area) as possible will join us from noon to 2:30 p.m. on May 9!

There won’t be the formal pomp and circumstance surrounding the building’s yet-to-be-determined “official” grand opening, but we’re hoping to just make this a day to celebrate the important contribution Bennington state employees make every day to Vermont and your critical role in helping protect not only your own safety and health, but also that of the Vermonters visiting your building.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible next Wednesday, May 9.

Thank you for your service–and for your patience.

John Reese
VSEA President
