Private Contractor’s Error Could Cause Some Vermonters’ Health Care To “Close”

The attached e-mail was sent today to all AHS/ESD employees. Seems some private contractor wasn’t doing its job, and now some Vermonters and ESD staff will be paying for the contractor’s error.

Subject: delay in mailing premium bills

Hi everyone. We recently found out that premium bills for our programs are now being mailed out of Long Island, NY rather than Lewiston, ME. In error, the vendor did not mail out the premium bills according to our timetable. Consequently, many are receiving their bills late. For those that recognize the tardiness and call, Member services has been advising how much to send in.

The closure notice run for health care programs happens on Sunday. Undoubtedly some will close due to this issue. The health care team will be following up next week to determine how we will proceed regarding the resulting closures.

Thanks and have a great weekend!
