Governor Mandates Vaccinations For Select Groups Of State Employees

Several news outlets are reporting on yesterday’ss COVID update from Governor Scott, where he announced that he was mandating vaccinations for select groups of state workers.

From the Seven Days story:

During his weekly press conference, he said vaccinations will be required for staff of the Vermont Veterans’ Home, Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital and the six state prisons. A potential testing alternative may be offered.

“We have an obligation to protect the most vulnerable under our care,” Scott said, adding the rise of the highly transmissible Delta variant was a key factor in his decision. “We just think it’s a good idea considering what we’re seeing across the country.”

Reminder! Your July 29 Paycheck Will Reflect Newly Adopted VSEA Dues Structure

VSEA has been reminding members about a vote at last year’s Annual Meeting to institute a new, sliding-scale dues structure. The new structure is set to start with employees’ July 29, 2021, paycheck. Dues will now be based on 0.83% of an employee’s pay, with a minimum of $16 and a maximum of $19. Here again is Dr. Leslie Matthews’ visual presentation to the 2020 Annual Meeting, explaining how the VSEA Dues Study Committee arrived at its now-adopted recommendation.
