“When we consider the budget cuts over the last few years and the impact it’s brought to human services and other critical roles in state government, it’s clear we must find an alternative to more cuts,” Pearson said.

Rep. Pearson introduces bill to place "small" tax on $180-$190 million windfall coming back to Vermont’s weathiest as a result of Congress’ voting to extend the Bush-era tax cuts. Says it could generate $17 million to help protect services and help prevent another request for state employees to do more. If you are single earning $171,000 or more, or married with both earning more than $209,000, this bill will impact you. If not, rest easy.
“Public employees are not the problem. The problem is much deeper,” Biden said during a fundraiser for New York Rep. Carolyn Maloney on Wednesday.
"[Indiana Gov.] Mitch Daniels told reporters that he agreed with [the bill] philosophically, but it was a big issue that needed a statewide debate."
Debate? As opposed to "my way or the highway" Wisconsin mentality?
From AP rally story:
"It’s scary," said Tony Smith, 71, of Wolcott, a retired state Department of Labor worker who was among those attending the lunchtime rally. "If this goes through in Wisconsin, it’s going to be just a matter of dominos. It’ll be Ohio next, then the next one will be another state, and it’ll expand. "
