Huge coalition to rally in NYC on March 24!
"Nothing is getting any cheaper for those of us that work for the state," said Cordell Hackett, a Department of Transportation worker.
A not mentioned much, but important point. Public employees have to purcahse gas and food just like everybody else.
"Without that surcharge and other targeted tax increases, Mr. Cuomo’s proposed cuts in education and other vital services will inevitably be deeper and more painful than necessary, harming both individuals and the foundation for the state’s future economic growth."

“One of the concerns several people have expressed and that I agree with is, we have some bad news coming to us from Washington, [said Rep. Janet Ancel]. It’s a pretty sure thing that there will not be as much federal support. To the extent that there is taxing capacity, we need to keep that so we can respond to federal cuts when they come.”
