Just a handful of VSEA members turned out on Saturday to march in the 2011 Essex Junction Memorial Day Parade, but the sun was shining, the mood was festive and the crowd reception was great. It was nice along the parade route to hear things from the crowd like "We’re sorry you had to take a cut" and "thank you so much for what you do." Kate Duffy, the state’s commissioner of the Department of Human Resources, said state officials are unsure how much money will be saved. The deal is "sort of an experiment to see what is possible,"
