VSEA Dispatchers Banding Together To Protect Critical Service & Stop Cuts

Last week, Vermont media outlets began covering the fight by VSEA 911 Dispatchers in Derby and Rutland to protect the critical service they provide daily to regular citizens and to the police, fire and EMS services in the communities they serve.
 
Dispatchers were forced into action after learning that the Administration’s budget proposal contained a suggestion to save money by consolidating four Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs; a.k.a. 911 Dispatch Centers) in to just two offices, eliminating the Derby and Rutland PSAPs outright and potentially displacing dozens of seasoned public safety professionals.

AOT Secretary Sue Minter Reminds Vermonters To Slow Down

This excerpt from Minter’s letter includes some simple advice that could have possibly prevented some of yesterday’s accidents. Slow down out there. A plow driver’s job is hard enough.
