AOT Secretary Sue Minter Reminds Vermonters To Slow Down

VSEA is aware of several accidents yesterday involving Vermont snowplows. This morning, a letter from AOT Secretary Sue Minter appeared in the Times Argus. This excerpt from Minter’s letter includes some simple advice that could have possibly prevented some of yesterday’s accidents. Slow down out there. A plow driver’s job is hard enough.

Fight Back! Save Our Services!

The State of Vermont is facing yet another budget deficit, and Vermont’s Governor is proposing to eliminate or reduce vital state services and is asking state employees to help by re-opening recently signed contracts and giving something back. But we know that VSEA members have already helped out many times, taking a 3% pay cut, enduring step freezes and increasing employee contributions to our health care and pension plans. This time, however, we can and must say "no" to the hasty proposals and to a mindset of "let’s just balance the budget on the backs of state employees and the Vermonters who rely on their services".

Frontline 911 Dispatchers in Derby and Rutland Fight Back!

VSEA frontline 911 Dispatchers in Derby and Rutland are fighting back with their union’s help against ill-advised budget cuts to the critical service they provide to so many local Vermont communities’ police, fire, EMS and just ordinary citizens.

Here’s a quote from Ann Masse, a VSEA Dispatcher in Rutland, in a January 24 Rutland Herald story about the proposed service cut:

“From a dispatcher’s standpoint, this is a safety issue for responders and the public because it can only lead to delays in response time.”
