Longtime VSEA activist and leader Heather Pembroke recently announced she would be stepping down from her elected Board of Trustees seat due to a promotion to management. Because there is still more than a year remaining in Heather’s current term, an election is required to fill the seat.
Recently, VSEA’s Elections, Rules & Nominating Committee emailed a notice and other important information about the open seat to all Supervisory Unit members. The deadline to file your petition is 4:30 PM on Tuesday, December 26.
In advance of Public Service Recognition Week 2024 (May 5 – May 12), VSEA’s Communications Department is inviting members to submit the names of colleagues who are deserving of special recognition for always going above and beyond to provide quality service to the Vermonters they serve. We’ll be choosing some of your nominations to feature during PSRW 2024.
Let the Communications Department know who you want to nominate for special recognition and tell us a little bit about why you are submitting their name for consideration.
Thanks in advance for your nominations. The nominating period will conclude at the end of March 2024.
VSEA Labor Relations Director Gary Hoadley sent notices last evening to VSEA members belonging to the Non-Management, Supervisory, and Corrections Units, informing them that their respective Bargaining Teams had reached tentative agreements with the State of Vermont. He adds that Bargaining Teams will soon be scheduling informational meetings to review the settlement and answer members’ questions.

The VSEA Board of Trustees is pleased to be sponsoring the second annual Will Wells Fundraising Challenge benefiting the Vermont Foodbank. The competition honors the late Will Wells; a VSEA member/activist who a few years back facilitated VSEA’s participation in the Vermont Foodbank’s annual virtual fundraising drive. Because this cause was so important to Will, the Board voted unanimously to name VSEA’s annual year-end friendly Chapter competition after him.
As in years past–and thanks to Will laying the groundwork–VSEA is challenging every VSEA Chapter and its members to raise as much money as possible between now and December 31 to provide meals to a “virtual food drive” for the Vermont Foodbank. Let’s see which VSEA Chapter can raise the most money for this very worthwhile cause that benefits so many Vermont families during especially difficult times. Again, the VSEA Board of Trustees voted to start each Chapter off with a $200 donation.
