Patricia "Pat" Gabel is the current Vermont Court Administrator, or head of the Judicial Branch. In 2010, the Stowe Reporter published a story about her, titled "Patricia Gabel Recognized For Leadership."
The story is about Ms. Gabel being honored in 2010 by the prestigious women’s advocacy group, the International Women’s Forum of Canada. She won an award for her commitment to identifying and promoting women leaders in the workplace.
Segue to 2016, and Ms. Gabel finds herself as the target of a campaign by approximately 100 Vermont VSEA Docket Clerks (all but two of whom are women) to address the Judiciary’s steadfast resistance to addressing the continuing impact of historic wage discrimination for this overwhelmingly female workforce. She continues to prevent the Docket Clerks from bargaining over any pay increase over the cost of living. She has also prevented them from achieving a fair system of appeals to ensure that they are appropriately classified and paid for the work they do.

Each year, VSEA invites members and their immediate family to apply for a VSEA scholarship award. Last month, the committee met to review all the applications, and yesterday at VSEA’s Council meeting in Castleton Vermont we were happy to announce the winners of seven VSEA scholarships. We’re pleased to have this many winners because it’s a testament to the level of exceptional talent our committee had to choose from this year. In fact, the Committee received more than 40 applications this year, which is great news.

VSEA Issued The Following Press Release This Afternoon:
CASTLETON, V.T.—After an extensive, innovative, and inclusive endorsement process, the Vermont State Employees’ Association (VSEA) voted to endorse Matt Dunne in the Democratic Gubernatorial Primary, David Zuckerman in the Democratic Lieutenant Gubernatorial Primary, and a slate of other candidates across both statewide and local primary races. For the first time, VSEA’s endorsement process included a straw poll of rank and file members, multiple gubernatorial candidate forums, and a host of other efforts that provided direct interaction between political candidates and the union’s more than 5,500 active members.
“The real winners in today’s endorsements are the members of this union,” said VSEA President Dave Bellini. “The message has gone out today across Vermont—the members of VSEA are watching this state’s political process, and we will be heard.”
