Governor Scott delivered his 2022 budget address this afternoon, and here are some quick takeaways for VSEA members:
1) Governor mentioned pension funding issue twice, but nothing concrete, outside of he wants to talk;
2) One-time $20 million funding injection to the Vermont State Colleges, with a directive to examine restructuring;
3) Proposed body cams for Corrections Officers; and
4) Talked about consolidation of DCF’s Child Development Division.
Not Included In Address: Full funding of the Pay Act, meaning year two of the contract is funded!
As this posts, VSEA Strategic Analyst Adam Norton is preparing a more comprehensive overview of this afternoon’s address.
In response to a slew of VSEA member and retiree questions about a recent report that state employees could be moved into OneCare Vermont, members of VSEA’s Benefits Advisory Committee have produced a Q&A to hopefully address many of the questions and concerns.
