VSEA Brattleboro Chapter Annual Meeting

Brattleboro VSEA Members and Non-Members,

Please join us for an after-work meeting Thursday, August 13th at the Brattleboro Municipal Center building’s third floor conference room (Room 306).

Following the successful revival meeting in May, we were able to fill all chapter officer positions.  However, to be in compliance with chapter and VSEA bylaws, the duration of those appointments was only until the next chapter annual meeting when such elections would be regularly held.

As it happens, this will be that meeting!  This time, the chapter officer positions will be elected for their full two-year term.  Any unfilled VSEA Council positions representing Brattleboro will also be elected for the remainder of the term (until the chapter annual meeting in 2027.)

All members are welcome, and if you are not currently a member you can sign up at this meeting.

A timely RSVP helps us plan the food order, and prepare for dietary restrictions.

Description of Chapter Positions:

President: Chapter presidents are responsible for organizing chapter meetings in accordance with their chapter’s bylaws. You must run those meetings in accordance with Roberts Rules of Order, make sure your Chapter follows all other bylaws, and help recruit state employees in your Chapter to become union members. You will not be alone! Other members of your chapter will help, and you will have a staff organizer assigned to assist you! Chapter Presidents are all also VSEA Council members.

Vice President: Takes over for the president if they step down or are absent from a meeting.

Clerk: Takes notes at each meeting, brings a typed copy of those notes to the next meeting for review, and ensures their notes are submitted to the VSEA Communications Department.

Treasurer: Each Chapter is given funds to spend on their members. The treasurer’s job is to keep track of those funds, and to give a treasurer’s report to members at each Chapter meeting.

Council Member: Council members attend four council meetings per year and vote on important union issues. Your job is to attend those meetings, represent your members, and to report back to your Chapter.
