Hello Central VT Chapter Member!
Please join us for this year’s Chapter Annual Meeting.
This is an officer election year and if you have been thinking about getting more involved in your union, this is a great opportunity to do so.
Description of Chapter Officer Positions:
President: Chapter presidents are responsible for organizing at least four chapter meetings a year, including an annual meeting where elections are held. You must run those meetings in accordance with Roberts Rules of Order, make sure your chapter follows your bylaws, and help recruit new members in your chapter. You will not be alone! Other members of your chapter will help, and you will have a staff organizer assigned to assist you! Chapter Presidents are all also VSEA Council members.
Vice President: Takes over for the president if they step down or are absent from a meeting.
Clerk: Take notes at each meeting, and make sure those notes are sent to HQ to be posted online for all members of your chapter. Brings their notes to the next chapter meeting for formal approval.
Treasurer: Each chapter is given funds to spend on their members. The treasurer’s job is to keep track of those funds, spend them when approved, and to give a treasurer’s report to members at each chapter meeting.
Council Member: Council members attend four council meetings per year and vote on important union issues. Your job is to attend those meetings, represent your members, and report back to your chapter. Learn more about VSEA Council here.
