Wow, Barre area Times Argus readers pay attention.

My letter to the editor about an apparent missing lawn sign resulted in the individual calling me and explaining what happened. The individual, who is a massive race fan and a recent transplant to Vermont, said they liked the sign and thought it was a stray. They had the courage to call me and to tell me that they would gladly display it in a prominent area.

I promised to meet this individual — who, by the way, can't vote for me — at the next race. What a great story. It helps to restore faith in humanity.

I also find it interesting that this is at least the 10th person whom I have met while talking to people, who has recently moved here to Vermont. Why are we not talking about that and why are we not asking them why they want to come to this great area? Just saying.

Again, if people want one of these great signs, call me at 229-8159.

With reference to “Owner looks to level L&M. This is just so discouraging, this tear down mentality we have in this country completely erases our history. Supposedly this to save money, how? The expense of tearing this old diner down, putting down stones and eventually replacing it with a 3 story building? How is that saving money? No it’s point is to eventually enrich yourself. Saving a piece of history and another local eating and meeting place, not important , so what a about the community? I was recently in Germany, remember it was devastating by war, by the 1960’s much had been put back to the way it was. I traveled to Dresden this time, W ow! It was beautiful, put back the way it was before the terrible firebombing of February 1945! It took decades because of communism but they preserved their history. What is wrong with us?
