Vermonter Shares Letter To BGS Commissioner About Rest Stops

"Each time, we stop at the Visitor’s Center.  During our most recent visit, we noted that the hours have been reduced, and in conversing with the staff, learned that staff schedules now mandate a 12 hour day."

Mr. Myers:

My wife, Susan, and I travel frequently to the West for family and business matters in Ohio.  Each time, we stop at the Visitor’s Center.  During our most recent visit, we noted that the hours have been reduced, and in conversing with the staff, learned that staff schedules now mandate a 12 hour day.   We hope that your department will make every effort to extend this schedule until 9 p.m. and to split the staff schedules, at least during the forthcoming tourist season.   It has been our experience that those who are in the center spend time browsing the literature racks and displays.  We do that, even though we have been Vermont residents for several years and regular visitors for twenty years.  We always find a new destination, product, etc. and then plan time to travel within the state ourselves to get to better know the many facets of Vermont, its businesses and its people.   Let’s keep promoting our state through the friendly staffers at our Visitors Centers and the information that they offer.

We do appreciate the fiscal constraints that our state faces presently.  But, let’s keep our friendly welcome to those who bring their money to Vermont.

Best regards,

Roger Bloomfield
