Lamoille Valley VSEA Members,

Your chapter officer seats are currently vacant. We will be holding a special election on Thursday, October 29 to fill the positions of President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, as well as your VSEA Chapter Council seats.

VSEA Chapters are your union’s local organizations. A chapter’s roles is to keep members informed of what is happening in your union statewide, take action on local union issues, represent your union in local communities, and to promote union membership.

Getting involved in your chapter is a great way to learn more about your union, meet fellow union members across your county, and help advance union issues in your local area.

The Chapter President is charged with running chapter meetings, the Vice President serves when the President cannot. The Treasurer manages your chapter’s funds. Each VSEA Chapter receives money to spend on their operations based on the total number of members in that chapter. The Secretary/Clerk keeps meeting minutes and reports them to VSEA HQ. VSEA Council Members attend four council meetings a year and vote on important union issues, then report on what happened at those meetings to their chapter members.

Nominations for all positions can be made at the meeting. If you have any questions about the various roles of chapter officers or any other questions you can reach out to doppenheimer@vsea.org.

Please consider attending this meeting even if you don’t want to run for office. Your participation is important and makes your union stronger. I look forward to seeing each of you there.
