"The shift supervisors and assistant supervisors claim they do uncompensated work before and after regular shift hours, including traveling between minimum- and medium-security units at the 825-inmate prison in central Kentucky, staying on post while waiting for a replacement officer to arrive and attending training sessions on regular days off."

"When this first started coming to light, the health issues with state employees, if it wasn't for you folks, we wouldn't have done what we did," [said Rep. Alice Emmons]. You looked out for each other, you cared about your colleagues. If it wasn't for the determination and the caring of your colleagues, I don't know where we would be, because that really put the pressure on us as legislators to really look at this building and do the right thing. There were different feelings about what the right thing was, but ultimately we decided to stay here and build a state-of-the-art building."

Dear State Employees,
Public Sector Recognition week is a time for citizens, like me, to recognize the outstanding state employees we work with every day. Employees who have chosen to work in public service. Employees who, whether they are behind the scenes or out in front are the face that Vermont citizens turn to for help and assistance every day.
I would like to express my appreciation to you, our dedicated State Employees who continue to show outstanding customer service in the face of this recession and in the wake of disaster. Your dedication and sacrifices are noticed and appreciated. Thank you.
Rep. Susan Hatch Davis
Thanks Rep. Hatch Davis!
