Liza Commo
Daughter of VSEA member Sheila Commo; an Administrative Assistant with the Department of Corrections. Accepted To: Lyndon State College Pursuing Degree In: Early Childhood Education From Liza’s Essay: “My goal after college is to get a good job in the field of early education, working with young children. Many of my academic and education goals will help me achieve my career goal to become a teacher in Vermont.” Sead Drljacic A VSEA member who works as a Tax Examiner III in the Department of Taxes. Currently Enrolled At: Johnson State College Pursuing Degree In: Business and Management From Sead’s Essay: “I began working for the state of Vermont in March 1999 as a data clerk in the Department of Taxes. Now I am a tax examiner III. In 2003, I received an associate degree in accounting and am now working towards my bachelor of arts degree.” Joshua Nye Son of VSEA member Barry Nye; a Security Officer with the Military Department. Accepted To: University of Vermont Pursuing Degree In: Gaming, Simulators and Robotics From Joshua’s Essay: “I built my first robot when I was 7, which consisted of an old fire truck. When I was 13, I began making games using simple programming language. The skills I learned in all my years of tinkering with computers and appliances will be very helpful in achieving my goal of bringing about technology that will benefit not only the average man, but the entire world.” Emily Prescott

Accepted To: University of New England Pursuing Degree In: Pharmacy From Emily’s Essay: “I want to graduate with a double major in epidemiology and pharmacy. I want to travel the world, help third world countries and take my degree to new levels. After traveling the world and helping people, I want to go into research. I marvel at those who work at the CDC and the WHO. I want to be part of eradicating diseases and finding vaccinations and cures for the bacteria that bothers most of us. You may think this is a very ambitious plan, but I am quite the ambitious person and I know I will get where I want to be.” Zachary York

Accepted To: Burlington College Pursuing Degree In: History or Liberal Arts From Zachary’s Essay: “I love history and the thought of teaching it to others really excites me I have thought that, after I finish college and get a Master’s Degree, I’ll find a good teaching job in Vermont and live. It’s as simple as that.”
